About this Presenter
Matthew E. Morgan is a counselor and coach - and a seasoned adventurer in the realms of therapy, spirituality, and neurodiversity. He is the owner of Misfit Refuge Counseling, providing therapy across Ohio and Florida.
Matthew began his professional career as a pastor, but was told that he had the "wrong personality" for ministry. Unsure of what to do, this AudADHD, Enneagram 4w5, INFJ, and House Hufflepuff wandered the wastelands (metaphorically speaking) gaining experience as a programmer, then as a teacher, then a thankfully short-stint as a stand-up comedian, and finally into counseling where he discovered his passion to help the "misfit" weirdo that so often felt like they didn't belong.
In the process, Matthew authored a speculative fiction novel, ShadowLight, that highlights a deaf protagonist. He co-wrote the documentary 141 Days: Bike for Christ, to showcase a man's journey across America with $300, a bicycle, and his faith. Currently, Matthew is crafting a book on neurodivergent spirituality, exploring the labyrinthine depths of perfectionism, incorporating his own journey as well as research into this.
Matthew's geek cred includes watching every (found) episode of Doctor Who to being a Star Wars aficionado. In his Dungeons and Dragons campaign, he's the quintessential support character, offering guidance and empathy.
When he's not working on his businesses, Matthew loves spending time with his wife and son and will also occasionally play his cello and guitar. He also has wanted to sing very badly ... and does.
