Representation is Brain Education: A Neuroscientific Look at DEI
A presentation by Jason Perez (he/him)
About this Event
This session will seek to go beyond the culture war-based arguments about ethnic and gender representation in media. Instead, we will explore the impacts of representation in identity and group formation, focusing on how exposure to diverse faces and stories can benefit us on neurological and sociological levels.
Learning Objectives:
- Attendees will be able to articulate different sides of the representation debate with clarity and empathy.
- Attendees will gain greater understanding of the neurological impacts of consistent exposure to diverse faces and stories.
- Attendees will develop tools to identify and challenge signs of cultural bias in themselves and others.
