I Just Want to Talk About CLAMP: A Look at Liberator Psychological Modalities
A presentation by Jessie Duncan MA, LPC, NCC, CTP (she/they) (CASTT Gamers)
About this Event
This presentation weaves together the power of storytelling in manga and anime with the transformative frameworks of liberation and decolonial psychology. Using the works of all-female creative group CLAMP, we explore how structural violence and historical trauma impact mental health—and how therapy can become a space for healing, resistance, and joy. Participants will gain tools to decolonize therapeutic spaces, deepen their understanding of communal and psychospiritual healing, and embrace culturally grounded practices that challenge Western psychological norms.
*** Not gaming-related. Presented on the Gaming stage as a replacement for a cancelled event.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Explain how structural violence impacts mental health
- Describe liberation psychology
- Design a decolonized therapy space
- Illustrate liberation psychology concepts using media examples
