This session will discuss how the unique, sensory-rich environments in video games can support an equally rich mindfulness practice, from creating formal mindfulness activities to informal practice and engagement. The presentation will cover some of the principles of sensory regulation to work them into these practices to cultivate a mindfulness practice that's easy to access as well as multi-sensory.
Learning Objectives
1) Discuss the sensory systems and the basic principles of sensory regulation to apply them when designing mindfulness practices.
2) Evaluate specific aspects of mindfulness that are enhanced by the use of video games during practice.
3) Design a mindfulness exercise that incorporates video games and uses a sensory approach to decrease barriers to access mindfulness benefits and creates an engaging, multi-sensory experience.
