About this Event
A discussion on the representation of Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and LGBTQIA+ in horror comics and pop culture. The panelists will share their experiences and perspectives on how marginalized voices are portrayed in the genre and will talk about how representation can move from victimhood to empowerment. The panel will cover the importance of cultural sensitivity, authenticity and provide insight on the impact of their work on marginalized communities.

1. Quick history of how marginalized voices have been portrayed in horror pop culture
2. Impact on marginalized people of these pop culture portrayals such as trauma, grief and ptsd and
3. discussion on current trends of voices from victimhood to empowerment
4.Develop strategies and recommendations for therapists, creators, consumers, and the industry as a whole to promote more inclusive and diverse representation in horror pop culture that moves beyond harmful stereotypes and centers marginalized voices.
