About this Presenter
Jessie is a therapist and health equity preceptor in Chicago with a liberation psychology approach. Using a framework of liberation means understanding that we are raised in interconnecting systems that try to place us in narrow boxes. In their work, they work with individuals to deconstruct the dominant narratives that have been forced on us all and find new ways to approach life. This approach to healing is based on exploring the fullness of individuals and communities and celebrating the aspects of identity that are often ignored/vilified. This fullness of self is explored best through the parts of a person they most love and cherish and the activities that they find most enjoyable, such as TTRPGs, video games, comics, movies, and other aspects of geekery.
As a health equity preceptor Jessie facilitates student discussions around the topics of equity, justice, bias, discrimination, and ethics within medical practice and education.
Jessie is a member of CASTT Gamers, a multidisciplinary community with a focus on the applied, spiritual, and therapeutic applications of Tabletop Role-Playing Games. She participates in the CASTT twitch programing, runs some games, and many other things.
