About this Presenter
Frank J. Robertz is a Professor of Criminology and Social Sciences at the ‘University of the Police of the State of Brandenburg’ in Germany. He holds a doctorate in Criminology and has dedicated most of his career to researching the prevention of severe acts of violence, a focus that has led him to author 12 scientific books to date.
But it’s not all academic rigor—Frank is also a devoted TTRPG enthusiast, recently celebrating 40 years of being a Dungeon Master. While he has a soft spot for eye-catching new OSR (Old School Revival) content, he’s far from a grognard: he loves diving into the latest systems, convinced we’re living in a golden age for TTRPGs.
A few years ago, he began combining his two worlds after realizing TTRPGs could be used in educational settings to teach knowledge and life skills alike. Nowadays, he regularly brings TTRPG methods into his classes and has just wrapped up editing an anthology on the educational potential of TTRPGs. Still catching his breath from this massive project, which involved 25 international co-authors, he’s already firing off fresh proposals to publishers —this time zeroing in on the nitty-gritty of using TTRPGs in schools and universities.
