About this Presenter
Dr. Smith is a 1.5 generation Korean-Irish Licensed Clinical Psychologist who speaks English and conversational Korean. 1.5 generation is one way to say she moved to the States in early childhood. Her mother is Korean and her father is a disabled US Army veteran. With several relocations and neurodiverse presentations in her multilingual family, her training in psychology began early on. Dr. Smith earned her Masters and Doctorate of Clinical Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She provides care through a relational, collaborative, neurodivergent affirming, social justice, and trauma informed lens. Much of her work includes meeting people where they are while helping individuals and families navigate a variety of stresses, traumas, & relational and developmental challenges. She utilizes evidence-based trauma treatments such as EMDR and Narrative therapy, along with play, expressive art, Geek Therapy, and honors ancestral healing practices. In addition to providing therapy & neuropsychological assessments, Dr. Smith also works with several nonprofits, enjoys culinary adventures, knitting, art, cosplay, reading comics, collecting Hello Kitty and Tokidoki, and taking dance lessons with her husband.
