About this Presenter
Catherine Richardson (she/her) is a licensed psychologist (Psicóloga General Sanitaria M-36968) registered with the Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos in Madrid. Originally from England, she has lived in Madrid for nearly a decade and understands firsthand the challenges of adapting to a new culture.
She holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology (2012), an International Diploma in Mental Health Law and Human Rights from the WHO (2013), and a Master’s in General Health Psychology (2018). She is also a trained Mental Health First Aid England instructor, delivering courses to NGOs, service users, and private companies in both the UK and Spain. Her experience includes volunteering with Samaritans crisis service, Nightline for students, and the National Autistic Society befriending service.
As a geek therapist, Catherine integrates clients’ fandoms, interests, and gaming experiences into therapy, making sessions more engaging and relatable. She takes a neurodivergence-affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and kink-friendly approach, focusing on strengths and strategies that genuinely fit each individual. She also develops minicourses and workshops that provide practical tools for managing anxiety, overthinking, and self-doubt in an accessible and engaging way.
Outside of work, Catherine is a huge fan of Pokémon and My Little Pony. She loves video games, tabletop RPGs, and board games, and she shares her home with two cats who like to "help" with her work.
