About this Presenter

Brent Lyles, LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor in Florida specializing in trauma-informed therapy, polyvagal theory, and geek culture integration in clinical practice. Brent received his master’s in clinical mental health counseling and has extensive training in PVT-EMDR, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and experiential therapy. As a therapist, he incorporates pop culture elements—including superheroes, sci-fi, and anime—to help clients explore personal growth, emotional regulation, and resilience through storytelling.

An avid mental health advocate and lifelong geek, Brent presents on the intersection of psychology and fandom at conventions and professional conferences on trauma and mental health therapies. He also facilitates workshops on polyvagal theory, self-regulation, and experiential therapy, blending evidence-based techniques with the power of storytelling. Brent is the owner of Solace Counseling Services, providing individual counseling and contract group therapy across various levels of care, from inpatient to outpatient settings.

When he’s not working with clients or leading panels, Brent enjoys developing original stories, crafting compelling characters, and exploring the art of storytelling across genres. His passion lies in helping others embrace their inner hero, using the lessons of fiction to navigate the stories of life.
